New Report: "IoT at home : business models in the US and EU"
DHL released a new report: " IoT at home : business models in the US and EU " . The IoT market is hot and has an enormous growth potential. Missing a beat can be fatal for a manufacturer. But this market is also very risky. Risky for as well manufacturers as for NSP's, retailers and IoT platforms. And now also risky for consumers. On June 19th Google will stop the support for the Revolv platform. The reaction of a co-founder of Revolv was: "My landscape lighting will stop turning on and off, my security lights will stop reacting to motion, and my home-made vacation burglar deterrent will stop working. Google is intentionally bricking hardware that I own". A very positive initiative in the US for consumers is TARGET's Open House: a connected home lab and retail space in San Fransisco. It combines the shopping experience with education through great use cases and really gives the consumer the whole story when it comes to the smart home platform. It's not a one size fits all appoach, and getting to experience a variety of scenarios within TARGET Open House, where Samsung SmartThings has multiple partner devices, really brings the whole concept together for a TARGET guest.
